Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Matcha collects, uses, stores, and shares information when operating its website and event photo services, including personal galleries, shared albums, live albums, and face matching.

1. Information we process

The information we process depends on how Matcha is used and the event involved. It can include information provided by customers, guests, photographers, and producers, as well as technical information created while the service is used.

  • Contact details for customers and people who contact us, such as name, phone number, email address, event type, and messages sent through the site.
  • Event information, such as the event name, date, location, page design, sharing settings, and organizer contact details.
  • Guest information provided for an event, such as name, phone number, email address, and gallery status.
  • Event photos uploaded by an organizer, photographer, producer, or guest, including content required to display and moderate a shared or live album.
  • A selfie or identification image voluntarily uploaded to find photos of that guest through face matching.
  • Technical information such as an IP address or a hashed form of it for security and abuse prevention, browser and device type, access times, and basic service activity.

2. Why we use information

  • To create event pages, shared albums, live albums, and personal galleries.
  • To match photos to a guest for the relevant event when the guest has chosen to submit a selfie.
  • To provide private or shared access links according to the event settings.
  • To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and protect the service from misuse.
  • To respond to support, deletion, and business enquiries.
  • To send operational messages, including a personal gallery link, using the contact details provided. Marketing messages are sent only where permitted by law and any required consent has been obtained.

3. Selfies and face matching

A guest selfie is used only to find that guest's photos from the relevant event. It is not shown to other guests and is not used for advertising, sale, or to create a public face database.

Image processing and face matching may be carried out using specialist service providers acting on Matcha's behalf to provide the service. The result is not guaranteed to be complete or error-free, and a guest may choose not to use face matching.

4. Shared and live albums

An event can include a personal gallery, a shared album, or a live album. A photo uploaded to a shared album or approved for a live album may be available to other guests with access to that album, according to the event settings.

Matcha and the event organizer may review, approve, hide, or remove album content where needed for operations, safety, privacy, rights protection, or compliance with law.

5. Service providers and disclosures

Matcha uses third-party service providers only to the extent needed to operate, secure, and provide the service. These may include hosting and website infrastructure, databases and cloud storage, image processing and face-matching services, payment providers, communications providers, and professional advisers or authorities where required by law.

Some providers may operate outside Israel. Where this happens, information is transferred only for the service purposes described here and subject to applicable legal requirements.

6. Retention

Event-photo retention begins on the event date. Matcha Album and Matcha Match media are retained for three months. Matcha Experience media is retained for six months. A different period agreed expressly with the customer will apply instead.

At the end of the applicable period, event media and access links may be deleted or become unavailable. Limited information may be retained where required by law, for security, or to protect legal rights.

7. Your requests and choices

A person whose information is held in the service may ask to access, correct, or delete it, subject to applicable law and legitimate technical or legal limits. Requests relating to a specific event may require coordination with the event organizer.

To protect everyone's privacy, we may request information needed to verify the requester and identify the relevant event without disclosing unnecessary information.

8. Cookies and usage data

Matcha uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for essential operation, security, preferences, account access, and limited usage measurement. Matcha also uses Vercel Analytics to measure site use.

You can change your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Doing so may affect parts of the site or service.

9. Security

Matcha uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including access controls, permission separation, dedicated links, and security measures designed to protect information. No online system can guarantee absolute security.

10. Children and minors

Events may include minors. The customer or event organizer is responsible for obtaining any permissions required for use of photos and information relating to minors, according to the circumstances and applicable law.

11. Contact

For privacy questions or access, correction, or deletion requests, contact Matcha at hello@matcha.photo. Please include the event name, event date, and contact details where possible so we can handle the request efficiently.
